Card rules

Cheat codes have rules.

Two little rules keep the game fair — for kids and for grown-ups. Agree on them together before the first card is played. Every pack includes them as two cards.

How it works

One card. One yes.

No points, no charts, no negotiations. A card is a promise the grown-ups already made — playing it is the fun part.

  1. Pick the moment

Your child chooses a card and the right time to play it — that’s half the game.

  2. Show the card

They hand it to a grown-up and say it out loud: “I’m playing EXTRA PLAYTIME.”

  3. The yes

The grown-up checks the two rules and says yes. No bargaining, no “maybe later”.

  4. Game over for that card

Used cards go into a jar or get a tick on the back. Every card works once.

The fine print, explained.

Rule 01

How often

  1. One card a day

Keeps the magic special — and stops a whole pack disappearing in one weekend.

  2. Two a week, max

Makes kids think: is today really the day? Waiting is part of the fun.

  3. Every card works once

A used card is done. Want more? That’s what the next pack is for.

Rule 02

When cards don’t work

  1. Not instead of school

Cards add fun — they never replace homework, school or sleep.

  2. Not when grown-ups are busy

A work call or a long drive? The card waits for a better moment.

  3. Health and safety win

No card beats a fever, a busy road or the dentist.

For grown-ups

You’re the game master.

Kids follow the rules when grown-ups do too. A broken promise is the only way to lose this game.

Do

  • Say yes with a smile — it’s their win.
  • Keep the pack somewhere they can see it.
  • Let them choose the moment, within the rules.

Don’t

  • Take cards away as a punishment.
  • Change the rules in the middle of the game.
  • Argue about a card that was played fairly.
